“I began Alexander Technique with Duncan after a diagnosis of spinal osteoporosis. This was as much about the difficulty of being permanently tense because of the risk of fracture as it was about having some back pain. Over time he gently gave me tools to open up my body to a more easy posture and way of being. This has helped not just my back but many things about how I move through the world. I recommend him wholeheartedly.”

“Duncan’s ability to pass on the ‘Alexander Principles’ is matched by his intelligent pair of hands. I have seen him work with ambitious high-flyers, students that have hit learning barriers or plateaued, timid students with fragile mental health and young musicians with pain issues to sort out. He deals with all these different teaching situations with confidence and a continuously growing skill set. Duncan is unusually well qualified to work with young musicians who are aspiring to join the music profession as top-flight performers and teachers. I recommend him without reservation.”
— Peter Buckoke, Alexander Technique area leader - Royal College of Music
“Working with Duncan has always been exciting. Not only is his hands on work simply brilliant, but his kindness and intelligence made it so that a lesson never felt repetitive. I wouldn't be able to think of something I couldn’t ask him in a lesson. It felt like his approach to Alexander could help me in any field of life. Without doubt one of the best teachers I’ve worked with.”

“This summer Duncan led some well received workshops that introduced our NYOS Symphony Orchestra players to the Alexander Technique. He got our young people to think differently about their breathing, how they sit when performing, and to notice how small changes in the way they think about their bodies can make a big difference to playing technique. There was also time for a constructive rest exercise, emphasising the importance of resting well during busy days of music making. These workshops set our players up with tools for taking care of themselves, and it was wonderful to see the young people continuing the exercises and techniques throughout the rest of the course. I highly recommend Duncan as a facilitator and leader, and his warm and engaging approach.”
